Preliminaries

For a Tychonoff space $X$ let $C_p(X)$ be $C(X)$ topologized as a subspace of the full product ${\mathbb R}^X$ endowed with the Tychonoff product topology. So $C_p(X)$ is endowed with the topology of pointwise convergence.
